Choosing the right banner material

Frontlit PVC is the default. At 440 gsm it is light and economical for indoor and short-term outdoor use; at 510 gsm it is the standard for building wraps, fence graphics and most outdoor banners; at 610 gsm it is specified for long outdoor runs and sites with regular wind.

Mesh banner is perforated so wind passes through it. On scaffolding, construction fencing and stadium wraps it is not simply an option — it is usually a requirement, because a solid banner of that size becomes a sail. Blockout material has an opaque layer between two printable faces, so it can be printed on both sides without show-through, and is used for hanging banners seen from both directions.

Polyester fabric is used where a banner needs to look like textile rather than plastic: retail interiors, exhibition backdrops and event drapes. It folds and ships more cheaply than PVC but needs tensioning on a frame.

Finishing: how the banner is attached

Welded hems are stronger than sewn hems and are the standard for outdoor banners. Grommets — brass or aluminium eyelets — are set into the hem at 300 to 500 mm intervals for rope or bungee fixing. Pole pockets are welded sleeves that slide over a pole, used for street pole banners and hanging displays.

Tell us how the banner will be fixed before we quote. A banner that arrives with grommets when the site needs a pole pocket is a wasted shipment, and the fixings cost far less than the freight to replace it.

Wind load and size limits

The larger the banner, the more the wind load governs the design. Above roughly 20 square metres of solid PVC we normally recommend mesh or a wind-slitted design, and we increase the hem weld and grommet density. For very large building wraps the fixing design is usually supplied by the installer and we print and finish to that specification.

Panels are welded to reach the size you need. Weld seams are placed away from critical artwork where possible, and we can orient seams horizontally or vertically depending on how the banner hangs.

Printing quality and colour

Banners are printed on roll-to-roll eco-solvent, latex or UV presses at 720 to 1440 dpi. Because banners are viewed from metres away rather than centimetres, very high resolution is rarely the limiting factor — ink coverage and material choice matter more. We print a proof strip on the actual material before the full run when colour accuracy is critical to a brand.

Typical applications

Construction and scaffolding banners, fence and hoarding graphics, building wraps, event and festival banners, street pole banners, retail promotions and sale banners, trade show backdrops, sports and stadium signage, roadside advertising, and grand opening banners.

Storage and reuse

Roll a banner printed side out on a core rather than folding it, store it dry and out of direct sun, and clean it with water and a soft cloth. A banner stored this way can usually be reused for several seasons.

How to order from our factory

Send your artwork, size, material preference, quantity and destination. We quote within one working day with a material recommendation and a lead time. If you are not certain which material suits the application, describe where the product will be used and we will specify it for you.

We then produce a sample on the same production equipment as the bulk order, so what you approve is what you receive. After sample approval we run production, inspect, and pack for export — flat packed, rolled or boxed depending on the product — with documentation prepared for your destination. Shipment is by sea, air or courier.

Frequently asked questions

What is the largest banner you can print?
Panels are welded to reach virtually any size; 3200 mm and wider is routine and wider formats are available on selected materials. Very large building wraps are printed in panels with weld seams placed to suit the fixing design.
Should I use mesh instead of solid PVC?
Use mesh wherever wind passes through the site — scaffolding, construction fencing, stadium wraps and exposed roadside positions. Solid PVC at that size acts as a sail and will tear or pull out its fixings.
How do I attach the banner?
The three common options are grommets with rope or bungee, welded pole pockets that slide over a pole, and velcro or sleeve fixings for frames. Tell us the fixing method when you enquire and we will finish the banner to match.
Can banners be printed on both sides?
Yes. Blockout material has an opaque interlayer so artwork on each face does not show through. Two-layer banners with a sewn or welded seam are an alternative for very large double-sided pieces.
Do you supply fire-rated material?
Yes. B1, NFPA 701 and DIN 4102 rated PVC and fabric are available on request, which is normally required for indoor event venues, exhibition halls and transport hubs. Please specify the standard needed for your market.
What is the minimum order quantity?
Large format banners can be ordered from a single piece. Small repeated banners with the same artwork start at around 100 pieces, which is where the unit price drops noticeably.
What is your minimum order quantity?
Most items start at 500 pieces, and mixed designs can be combined in a single production run. UV flatbed printed rigid signs can start lower, from around 100 pieces.
How long does production take?
Sampling takes 5-10 working days. Bulk production is normally 10-20 working days after sample approval, depending on quantity and finishing. Tell us your deadline and we will confirm a realistic date.
Can you ship to my country?
Yes. We ship regularly to North America, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and across Asia by sea, air and courier, and prepare export packing and documentation for the destination.
What payment terms do you accept?
T/T bank transfer is standard, with a deposit before production and the balance before shipment. Other terms can be discussed for repeat orders.

Minimum order quantities start at 500 pieces; mixed designs are welcome. Request a quote for pricing on your size and quantity.
